How it opens
The fourth floor, the Iron Tangle, drops Carl, Donut, Mongo and Katia into a filthy subway car hurtling through a tunnel. They have ten days to find a stairwell down, and on a floor built like a sprawling subway system they will need a map to do it. Carl now has a bounty on his head and a place near the top of the leaderboard. Mordecai, talking them through it by chat, tells them to get off at the next station and find a saferoom.
Who you meet early
- CarlCarl starts the fourth floor sixth on the leaderboard, with a bounty of 100,000 gold on his head and his title reverted to Royal Bodyguard.
- DonutPrincess Donut has to pick a new class on each floor because of her Character Actor skill. On the fourth she takes Football Hooligan, whose Mascot skill rewards the party when Mongo lands a hit.
- MongoMongo is Donut's velociraptor, and he is getting big enough that the subway car's aisle and poles are a squeeze for him.
- Katia GrimKatia rides in Carl's party. She can take a doppelganger form, but she is back in her mostly human, blond-haired one, and on this floor her constitution has doubled to 102. Her Pathfinder skill shows her far more of the map than Carl's does.
- MordecaiMordecai coaches the party by chat from his room. He steers Donut to the Hooligan class and asks them to keep quiet about what he thinks might be a bug: a class skill she levels up at least once seems to stay with her on the next floor.
