An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
Book 1 of 2 in The Carls · by Hank Green
How it opens
April May, a twenty-three-year-old designer at a New York start-up, is walking back to her office after a sixteen-hour workday when she comes across a ten-foot-tall metal figure in samurai armor on 23rd Street. Taking it for an art installation, she calls her friend Andy Skampt, who brings cameras and lights and talks her into going in front of the camera. April names the figure Carl and interviews it with a prop microphone while Andy films. Then she goes home to sleep, with her phone set to Do Not Disturb.
