How it opens
In the town of Vetitan, Fatren waits for a koloss army with a thousand skaa peasants with swords. A lone rider leaps onto the town's gate, names himself Elend Venture, the emperor, and takes command of the defense. The kandra TenSoon lies in a prison pit among his own people, a Contract-breaker who has told their secret. When his captors pour acid on him, he forms a tongue and demands judgment.
Who you meet early
- Elend VentureElend Venture is emperor, a title Vin gave him, and he is a Mistborn. He rides alone into Vetitan ahead of the two armies he says he brought.
- TenSoonTenSoon is a kandra of the Third Generation who helped Vin against his master, Zane, and told her a secret his people kept for a thousand years. He is now a prisoner of his own people.
