Vin is a young thief in Camon's crew in Luthadel, a city where ash falls from the sky. Her brother Reen left her with his debts, and Camon beats her but keeps her as a good-luck charm. She uses what she calls her Luck to soften people's emotions, and she helps Camon scam the Ministry. Kelsier, newly back in the city, watches her with his friend Dockson and wants to talk to her when a Steel Inquisitor sets off after her crew.

- VinVin is a girl in a thieving crew in Luthadel, the ash-dark city of the Lord Ruler, taught by her brother Reen that she is safe only when she is alone.
- DocksonDockson, often known as Dox, played a crucial role as Kelsier's closest companion and second-in-command of Kelsier's crew.
