How it opens
Lift runs away from the emperor's palace in Azimir and crosses northern Tashikk, trying out the power that lets her slide as if on ice. Wyndle, the spren who grows beside her as a vine and whom she calls her pet Voidbringer, begs her to go back. She heads for Yeddaw, a city cut into the ground with Shardblades, and says she has come to steal its pancakes. Darkness, the Skybreaker who nearly killed her in the palace, has been spotted in Yeddaw.
Who you meet early
- LiftLift has just run away from the palace in Azimir, where she was an honored guest after saving the emperor's life. The emperor is Gawx, now Prime Aqasix.
- WyndleWyndle is a cultivationspren bonded to Lift, seen only by her, who travels beside her as a growing vine. Lift calls him her pet Voidbringer, and he wants to go back to Azimir.
Where it sits
Edgedancer is a novella set between Words of Radiance and Oathbringer. Read The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance first, in that order.
