Thom Merrilin
Thom Merrilin is a gleeman, a stooped but spry old wanderer in a cloak of patches in a hundred colors, whose deep voice seems larger than an ordinary man's.
Thom Merrilin makes his pipe vanish somewhere inside his cloak or coat, and Rand cannot tell where it went or how. Thom insists, in a voice fit to fill a great hall, that his name is plain Thom Merrilin, not Master Gleeman. For part of tomorrow's performance, he picks Egwene to stand beside him and hand him his flute, telling her he always chooses the prettiest girl he can find. Asked about the false Dragon, he says he is no newsmonger and makes a point of knowing nothing about Aes Sedai, which he calls safer.
