The Strike at Shayol Ghul

The Strike at Shayol Ghul is a short piece Robert Jordan wrote in 1996 and posted online, setting out the close of the War of the Shadow and the sealing of the Dark One's prison. It is framed as the work of a royal historian piecing an account together from fragmentary manuscripts, footnotes and all, so that even its plainest statements arrive with a scholar's caution attached to them. A revised version was later folded into the illustrated guide, with the introductory sections cut and a number of details quietly altered along the way.
