Someryn

Someryn held a particular value in Sevanna's councils: she could read the Power in other women. The strength of a stranger, the weaves she was holding, whether a barrier weave stood in place, the instant someone began to channel, all of it was open to her, and among the Wise Ones of the Shaido she was the one trusted to know such things first.

Her place at a gathering reflected the work. She sat close beside Sevanna, near enough that a signal could pass between them without a word spoken, and she kept watch while others talked. The company she kept was the circle of Wise Ones around Sevanna: Tion, Modarra, Alarys, Meira, Rhiale, and Belinde among them.

For all that, her loyalty was not a soft thing. Someryn had little patience for weakness and none at all for fawning, and she followed Sevanna with her eyes open; wariness ran under the obedience.
