Sharina Melloy is an elderly Murandian woman who joins the Aes Sedai as a novice at Salidar, after the novice book is opened to women of any age. She is a dignified, gray-haired grandmother, her hair in a tight bun at the back of her head, her face creased with age, about five feet five inches tall and broad of hip. She follows the rules of the White Tower to the letter and helps a great many of her fellow novices, acting as a grandmother to the young women of the camp, and she is intimidating enough that even the Mistress of Novices treats her almost as an equal. Her potential in the One Power stands one level below the highest a woman can reach, and she has a strong Talent for the refined methods of Healing. A short time after she begins channeling, the wrinkles in her face start to ease, as happens with women who come to the Power late in life.
