Shara
The land east of the Aiel Waste, sealed off by the Great Rift and known to the Westlands mostly through its traders in silk and the painted porcelain that reaches the world under other names.
Shara is the Westlander name for the land east of the Aiel Waste, called Shamara, Co'dansin, Tomaka, Kigali and Shibouya by other peoples. The Sea of Storms lies along its southwest and south, the Morenal Ocean to its east, and the Mountains of Dhoom and the Great Blight along its north. Between Shara and the Waste runs the Great Rift, an immense canyon no one is recorded as having crossed. Sailing east past the last trading port is hazardous and most ships that try it vanish, though enough Sea Folk vessels have returned over the centuries to chart the coast: some 2,000 miles from the Waste to the ocean, and 4,500 from the mountains to the sea. Few Westlanders have gone there. Sharans are known chiefly as traders, in the softest silk and in fine painted porcelain that often reaches the world under another name.
