Shaido

The Shaido are one of the twelve clans of the Aiel, the veiled warrior people of the harsh land beyond the Spine of the World, and they count eighty-three septs among their holds. Their reputation runs ahead of them. Among the other clans the Shaido are called sneaking and grasping, a people who press against the bounds of ji'e'toh, the code of honor and obligation by which all Aiel measure themselves, without quite breaking it. No formal blood feud stands between the Shaido and any other clan, but there is little warmth between them and their neighbors, least of all the Taardad. Like every clan they follow a clan chief chosen through Rhuidean, and Wise Ones whose word stands apart from all feuds.
