Seta Zarbey

Seta Zarbey made her life inside the Seanchan order of things, where sul'dam and damane are rarely spoken of apart. Wherever the Seanchan hold damane, and they held even Aes Sedai so, women of Seta's calling are set over them. Her own posting was Falme, but the road since had carried her a long way from it, to Ebou Dar, a city under Seanchan control.

Nothing about her circumstances in Ebou Dar was of her own choosing. She was a captive there, taken along with a second sul'dam, Renna Emain, and held in the keeping of Egeanin Tamarath, in a company that included the man Bayle Domon and others out of an inn called The Wandering Woman. For a woman whose office was custody, captivity sat strangely.

What remained to her was the title itself. Whatever else had been taken, that had not; Seta Zarbey was sul'dam, and among the Seanchan that settled what a woman was.
