Rhuidean
Rhuidean is the forbidden city of the Aiel, hidden under mist in a valley of the Waste, where those who seek to lead clans or join the Wise Ones must go and from which many never come back.
Rhuidean lies in the Aiel Waste, where it is a city unlike any other in that dry land: raised after the Breaking of the World by the Jenn Aiel, the clan that is not, and standing empty beneath a shroud of dense fog in a valley at the foot of the mountain Chaendaer. Its avenues are lined with grand palaces, many unfinished, and at its heart grows Avendesora, the Tree of Life of ten thousand stories. To the Aiel, Rhuidean is sacred and forbidden ground. None may approach unbidden, and the Wise Ones permit only two kinds of pilgrim: a man seeking to lead a clan as its chief, and a woman called to be a Wise One herself. Many who walk down into the fog do not come out of it. Those who return say nothing of what waits inside, and no Aiel asks.
