Perrin Aybara

Perrin Aybara and Mat Cauthon are Rand's closest friends, and the three of them have been as far as the foot of the Mountains of Mist, much farther than most people from their village ever go. Perrin has curly hair and stands half a head shorter than Rand, but he is so heavily built that he looks half again as wide as most men.

With Bel Tine at hand, the peddler Padan Fain draws a crowd to his wagon. Perrin could easily push through it, but that is not how he does things. He picks a careful path to reach Rand and Mat, apologizing to people with eyes only for the peddler and trying not to jostle anyone. When he gets there he marvels at having a festival and a peddler together, and bets there will be fireworks.

Perrin winces when a gleeman scoffs that a girl as young and pretty as Nynaeve should be flirting rather than serving as the village Wisdom.
