Nynaeve al'Meara

Nynaeve al'Meara has told the village to expect a mild winter and then a good harvest, but the cold has not broken. Asked what she hears on the wind, she scowls and walks away. Wit Congar grumbles that she is too young and that the Village Council should act if the Women's Circle will not, and Cenn Buie of the Council wonders aloud whether the wind is telling her the winter will never end.

Nynaeve's temper is well known. When Cenn called her a child the year before, she thumped him over the head with her stick, though he is old enough to be her grandfather. The Lady Moiraine, a stranger, made the same slip while asking her the way, and even after an apology Nynaeve answered her sourly.

Nynaeve also lit into Mat and a wool-buyer's guard when the guard spoke of the Dragon being reborn to save everyone, and she told the merchant, who said the guard would not travel with him again.
