Morvrin Thakanos
Morvrin Thakanos is an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah, placid and unhurried, the kind of woman who requires a great deal of proof before she believes anything.
Morvrin Thakanos takes counsel at Salidar in a small circle of sisters, sitting with Sheriam, Anaiya, Carlinya, Beonin, and Myrelle over the decisions that steer nearly everything the Aes Sedai gathered there attempt. Within that circle she is the anchor rope, the one who keeps agreement from arriving too easily, on any subject at all.
Assertion gets nowhere with her. Proof persuades her; reputation does not. A claim, however plain it looks, is a thing to be tested before it is believed, and she is entirely comfortable being the last unconvinced woman in the room. Her agreement comes slowly, and it means something for exactly that reason.
None of that hardness runs to unkindness. She insists that the stilled women at Salidar be treated properly, whatever else is decided about them, and she holds the position with a steadiness that outlasts argument. Decency, in her view, does not wait on verdicts.
