Moiraine Damodred
Moiraine is a small woman with dark hair worn loose in soft ringlets, dressed in a cloak of sky-blue velvet, who seems to glide rather than walk.
Moiraine comes to Emond's Field as a stranger shortly before Bel Tine, with a man named Lan at her shoulder. The village boys call her the Lady Moiraine, but when Thom the gleeman bows and begs her pardon, she tells him her name is simply Moiraine, a traveler far from home.
Ewin says she is always asking questions, about herbs, about who's who, about people's ages and how long they have lived where they live, and that she gathers tales of the Two Rivers. Asking Nynaeve for directions, she called her child, not knowing she was the Wisdom, then apologized.
Rand cannot put an age to her. At a glance she looks no older than Nynaeve, but the longer he studies her, the older she seems, and her large, dark eyes hold a maturity no youth could have. She barely reaches his chest, yet carries herself with grace and an air of command. She has given Rand, Mat and Perrin matching coins.
