Merilille Ceandevin
Merilille Ceandevin is a Cairhienin Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah, slight and pale, with the polished bearing her people are known for.
Merilille Ceandevin holds a post far from home, stationed at the Tarasin Palace on Mol Hara Square in Ebou Dar, where Queen Tylin Quintara keeps her court. It is a city with its own sharp edges; the Rahad quarter across town carries a reputation for danger that even the queen speaks of plainly. Amid all of it, Merilille maintains the composure of a sister accustomed to palaces and to the patience they require.
Her loyalties lie with the Aes Sedai gathered in Salidar, the sisters who have set themselves against Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan's hold on the White Tower and raised Egwene al'Vere to the Amyrlin Seat. Merilille was among them in Salidar for that raising, and in Ebou Dar she represents their cause at Tylin's court, where two other sisters, Vandene and Adeleas, are also to be found, their purposes kept close.
In manner she is exacting about rank and precedence, with a cool eye for sisters she considers raised too quickly to the shawl. She does not offer deference where she has not decided it is owed. What she gives instead is correctness: an Aes Sedai of settled habits, holding her post in a foreign court with unruffled formality.
