Melaine
Melaine was an Aiel Wise One and dreamwalker, one of only four living among all the Aiel, known alongside Amys as among the most skilled at reading the future from dreams.
Melaine held her place among the Wise Ones of the Aiel, the women whose counsel shaped the clans of the Waste. The other three dreamwalkers still living were Amys, Bair, and Seana, and it was in their company that Melaine did much of her work, whether standing on the slopes of Chaendaer, the mountain above Rhuidean, or gathered in the close heat of a sweat tent where the Wise Ones talked over what must be done and how.
She was direct in a way that left little room for misunderstanding. Long deliberation was not her way. She pressed for decision, wanting movement, progress, an answer settled rather than an answer deferred. That impatience never made her careless about how things were decided. She cared about proper authority, and about the right way of reaching a judgment as much as the judgment itself.
Among women accustomed to command, Melaine spoke plainly and expected to be heard. Her camp in the Waste was a place of counsel and teaching, and she moved through it as a Wise One with work to do and no patience for delay.
