Machin Shin
The Black Wind of the Ways announces itself as a breeze where no wind should stir, then as thousands of voices screaming under a low monologue of blood and terror.
Machin Shin is the thing that waits in the Ways, called the Black Wind by the few with reason to speak of it at all. Travelers meet it first as a breeze where no wind should stir, then as sound: thousands of voices screaming at once, running underneath a low monologue that talks of blood and terror and does not stop. What becomes of the people it closes over is known only from the outside. Those who get clear come out raving, and the ones who can be Healed are never quite the same again, never laughing, frightened of the sound of wind. The name is Old Tongue. It means Journey of Destruction.
