Lelaine Akashi is a Kandori Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, one of its Sitters in the Hall of the Tower and First Selector of the Blue, ranked among the most powerful women in the Tower.
Lelaine Akashi keeps her place at the center of the White Tower in Tar Valon, in a world of formal corridors, quiet ceremony, and Ajah quarters where the daily business of Aes Sedai is conducted. Kandori by birth, she has risen as far within the Tower as most sisters ever hope to, and her word carries weight in two rooms at once: among the Blues in their own quarters, and in the Hall, where the Tower's course is set under the Amyrlin Seat, Tamra Ospenya.
The Blue quarters are her daily ground. The Ajah there keeps its own customs and its own weaves, passing both along to sisters newly raised, and when a woman first puts on the blue-fringed shawl, every Blue in Tar Valon gathers to welcome her into the company. Lelaine stands among the many sisters in residence, women like Eadyth, Anlee, and Aeldra, and among the newest of them, Moiraine Damodred and Siuan Sanche. Within that crowded household her standing is settled; when the Blue decides anything, hers is one of the voices that decide it.
