Katerine Alruddin

Katerine Alruddin was an Aes Sedai of the White Tower, one of the sisters in residence at Tar Valon during the years when Tamra Ospenya held the Amyrlin Seat. The Tower she served was a world unto itself: long galleries, the Accepted's quarters where young women studied toward the shawl, the West Stable and the Sunset Gate opening onto the streets of the city and the bridges beyond its walls. Katerine wore the shawl of the Red Ajah, and she moved through that world with the standing it conferred.

Merean Sedai served the Tower as Mistress of Novices in those days, and sisters such as Meilyn Arganya and Elaida a'Roihan came and went on its errands. Among the Accepted then working toward the shawl were Moiraine Damodred and Siuan Sanche, both still under the discipline of study and testing. Katerine's own place was a quieter one, a sister among sisters, present in the halls where the affairs of the Tower were conducted. She held no office and drew no particular notice, and she asked for none. In those years she was exactly what she seemed to be: a Red sister going about the work of the Tower.
