Jaichim Carridin
Jaichim Carridin was an Amadician noble and Inquisitor of the Children, patient and hard-faced, who used proxy chaos and careful distance to pursue his objectives on Almoth Plain.
Jaichim Carridin held rank where it counted twice over. Born to Amadician nobility, he rose within the Children of the Light to serve as an Inquisitor, one of the Questioners. The Children under arms in Tarabon moved at the Questioners' direction, and Carridin stood high enough among them that armed men marched at his word while he stayed far from the dust they raised.
He was a ruthless operative, and deception was his working tool. He preferred arrangements in which other hands did the visible work, and he chose those hands with care. Cruelty did not trouble him where it served a purpose; manipulation came to him as easily as speech.
Within his own order, that style bred unease. Plain soldiers of the Children, men in the mold of Geofram Bornhald, looked hard at the Questioners' tactics on Almoth Plain and liked little of what they saw. Carridin took no notice. Other men's unease was simply one more instrument, and he knew how to play it.
