Illian lies far beyond the Two Rivers, known in Emond's Field from peddlers' news. When Padan Fain brings word of a false Dragon, a villager recalls that the last one started a war in which thousands died and laid siege to Illian. On the road to Baerlon, Mat recalls an old map on which the road south from Caemlyn runs all the way to Illian and beyond, and he is starting to say that Illian is not full of Aes Sedai when Moiraine appears.
