The Horn of Valere is a horn of legend, said to raise the heroes of past Ages from their graves to fight for the Light.
Young men of Illian go hunting for it the way Borderland youths go after the Eye of the World, and gleemen compete in that city for a purse of a hundred gold marks awarded to the finest rendering of that old tale of the Hunt. Illian has sent out a proclamation calling everyone who will swear their life to the hunt to gather there, and Thom says no Hunt has ridden in nearly four hundred years.
