Graendal, once known as Kamarile Maradim Nindar, was one of the thirteen Forsaken, a servant of the Dark One whose name in the Old Tongue meant "vessel of pleasure."

Graendal cultivated appetite as openly as she cultivated power. Among the Chosen she was known for her indulgence, and for the servants she held under Compulsion, their wills bent entirely to her comfort. The luxury was real, but it was never the whole of her. Beneath it ran a calculating, manipulative mind, one that preferred schemes built on subtle control and misdirection to any open contest. She kept a careful distance from direct confrontation and watched her rivals' positions of power with keen, patient interest.

At the time the world first took notice of her, she sat in council with three of her fellow Forsaken: Rahvin, Sammael, and Lanfear. Their shared concern was Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, and the troubling matter of Asmodean, a former Chosen now allied with him. Those gatherings extended even into Tel'aran'rhiod, the World of Dreams, where the Forsaken had grown increasingly active. Graendal was no meek partner in such company. She was willing to needle the others when it suited her, and Lanfear, with her old obsession with Lews Therin, made a favorite target. Whatever plans took shape around that table, Graendal made certain the risk fell on someone else. She gave away little and observed everything.
