Ghealdan

Ghealdan is named in the opening chapters of The Eye of the World, when peddlers carry word of a false Dragon raising war there. It is a small country in the southwest, lying along the feet of the Mountains of Mist north of Amadicia, bounded by the Forest of Shadows in the south and the long ridge called Garen's Wall in the east. Its capital is Jehannah, on the banks of the River Boern. Ghealdan is not rich, holding mostly foothills, forest, and farmland, and its history has been quieter than most; a crowned ruler governs with the advice of the Crown High Council, and its small army has spent more effort discouraging Whitecloak ambitions out of Amadicia than fighting wars. At the opening that quiet is broken, for a man naming himself the Dragon Reborn has raised an army there, and every neighboring kingdom is watching.
