Gaul is a Stone Dog of the Imran sept of the Shaarad Aiel, first encountered caged in the town of Remen after being captured by a group of hunters of the horn led by Lord Orban.
Gaul is an Aiel, one of the people of the Aiel Waste, fierce and hardy fighters who veil their faces before they kill and who will not touch a sword. He is an unusually tall man, standing nearly a head above most others. The Stone Dogs are one of the Aiel warrior societies, and the Shaarad are one of the Aiel clans.
