Galad Damodred was a young Andoran nobleman training at the White Tower, darkly handsome and already guided by a moral certainty that left little room for doubt.

Galad Damodred belonged to the innermost circle of Andor: the Palace in Caemlyn, seat of Queen Morgase, where Elayne was Daughter-Heir, Gawyn was First Prince, and the Queen's Guards kept the gates. It was a world of throne room, Palace garden, and Palace gates, with men such as Gareth Bryne and Tallanvor in the Queen's service.

What governed Galad himself was conviction. He was driven by a strong sense of righteousness and an unshakable belief in acting correctly. A thing was right or it was wrong; once he had sorted it, no argument moved him, and he did not bend the sorting for anyone. He looked at whatever stood before him with rigid certainty, and he acted on what he saw.

That firmness cut in every direction, and it cut toward himself first. Galad followed his own code before he asked it of anyone else, and he followed it to the letter.
