Field of Merrilor

The Field of Merrilor is a place rather than a nation or a city: a wide expanse of open ground in the Borderlands, lying across the frontier between Shienar and Arafel. The River Mora divides the Field as it runs south toward the Erinin, marking the boundary between the two nations, with Arafel on the northwestern bank and Shienar on the southeastern. On the Arafellin side the land rises into a broad flat-topped plateau called the Polov Heights, flanked to the southwest by low bogland, and between the heights and the bogs the Mora runs wide and shallow. It is open grassland, watered, level in the main, and empty, the kind of ground Borderland patrols cross often and rarely pause in.
