Faile Bashere was a young Saldaean.
The name Faile is her own choice, and it means falcon. With her bold nose she can look like one, though others go on calling her Zarine, and she has to insist on the name she prefers. She calls herself a Hunter of the Horn.
Faile has high cheekbones and dark, tilted eyes, and anger shows in them plainly. She keeps knives about her. Her considering look tends to weigh whoever she is studying, as if working out how a thing is made and what it is meant for.
