Ebou Dar is a big southern city whose name crops up in a gleeman's hopes for an audience and in a ship's mate's guess at a heading.
Thom Merrilin counts Ebou Dar among the great cities of the south, with Illian and Tear, where crowds love tightrope walkers and slackwire acts. Bunt, a farmer bound for Caemlyn, has heard grand talk of it but holds his own city grander. When Bayle Domon puts out to sea and orders a westward course, his mate guesses Ebou Dar as the destination, and Domon judges it nowhere near far enough.
