The Da'shain Aiel are a people of the Age of Legends who served the Aes Sedai and followed the Way of the Leaf. The arrangement between them was known as the Covenant. They were distinguished by their working clothes, the cadin'sor, and by their red hair, and their reputation for humility and inoffensiveness ran so deep that harming one even unintentionally was appalling to contemplate, while the idea of a Da'shain harming anyone for any reason was inconceivable. A single Aes Sedai was commonly served by several Da'shain, and when two of them who served different Aes Sedai married, one asked to transfer service so that the couple could stay together. Da'shain men also worked alongside the Ogier and the Nym, singing to groves of plants to help them grow.
