Couladin
Couladin was a warrior of the Shaido Aiel, a Domai sept fighter of the Seia Doon society, broad-shouldered and flame-haired, and not a man who forgot a slight.
Couladin stood among the Aiel gathered at Chaendaer, the bare mountain near Rhuidean deep in the Aiel Waste, where the Wise Ones held their counsel and all who came were bound by the Peace of Rhuidean. He was no clan chief, and the lack sat badly with him; ambition ran through everything he did, and he made little effort to hide it.
Pride was the center of the man. He carried a hard rage against Rand al'Thor, whom he blamed for deaths in the Waste and for a grave insult to his honor, and he refused to accept Rand as the Car'a'carn. Muradin had gone into Rhuidean before Rand and had never come out, and Couladin laid that loss squarely at Rand's feet.
Custom bound the Aiel tightly, and Couladin strained against it wherever it checked him, whether the matter was as large as who might claim the title of chief or as small as who might host a guest. Among the Shaido his voice already carried weight, and he meant it to carry more. He wanted recognition, he wanted power, and he did not intend to wait quietly for either.
