Callandor is a sword that seems made of crystal from hilt to point, and prophecy holds that the Stone of Tear will not fall until the Dragon Reborn wields it.
Thom Merrilin puzzles aloud over old verses claiming that no one can touch it, yet that one man must carry it. In a dream that returns night after night, Perrin finds it hanging hilt down beneath a great dome ringed by red stone columns, turning slowly in the air, and his hand stops a foot short as if against a wall. A whisper names it and promises destiny to whoever takes it up.
