Callandor
Callandor, the Sword That Is Not a Sword, is a crystal blade and sa'angreal of immense power, held in the Stone of Tear behind wards that prophecy says only the Dragon Reborn can pass.
Callandor is first invoked in The Great Hunt, in words from the Prophecies of the Dragon. It is a sword that seems cut from flawless crystal, blade, hilt, and guard alike, and it is far more than a sword: Callandor is a sa'angreal, a tool that magnifies a man's strength in the One Power to heights almost nothing known can equal. Since shortly after the Breaking it has hung in the air in the Heart of the Stone of Tear, the great fortress raised, tradition says, for no other reason than to guard it, sealed behind wards of saidin and saidar that no hand can pass. The prophecies name it the Sword That Cannot Be Touched and tie it to the Dragon Reborn, declaring that the Stone will not fall until Callandor is taken up by the Dragon's hand. Tear, a land where the One Power is despised, lives with that glittering prophecy hanging in its keep.
