Cairhien

Cairhien is a large country in the east of the Westlands, running from the River Erinin to the Spine of the World, with its capital city of the same name rising beside the River Alguenya. Its banner is a golden sun climbing a field of blue. Cairhienin are precise people, clipped and careful in speech, and their nobles play Daes Dae'mar, the Game of Houses, in which every gift, seating, and silence carries meaning. The nation grew rich on the Silk Path, an eastern trade route across the Aiel Waste granted long ago by the Aiel themselves, and it still bears the marks of the Aiel War that ended some twenty years ago, when the burned shells of the capital's topless towers were left standing half rebuilt.
