Bowl of the Winds
The Bowl of the Winds is a ter'angreal of the Age of Legends made to govern weather, a wide crystal bowl worked with clouds, remembered in Sea Folk legend and lost for two thousand years.
The Bowl of the Winds enters The Wheel of Time in A Crown of Swords. It is a ter'angreal, one of the made objects of the Age of Legends, shaped as a shallow bowl some two feet across, thick crystal worked inside with clouds that seem to drift as the light moves. Its purpose is weather. In the Age of Legends, Aes Sedai regulated the climate itself with such tools, no single one strong enough to rule the whole world's sky, but together sufficient, and in the chaos of the Breaking this bowl passed to the ancestors of the Atha'an Miere, the Sea Folk, who used it to survive the wracked oceans of that time. It has been lost for two thousand years. Among the Sea Folk it is remembered as legend more than fact, one of the scattered treasures of the drowned past that the world no longer knows where to seek.
