Birgitte Silverbow

Birgitte is bound to the Horn of Valere, and her place in the world is unlike any other. She stands among that small company of heroes who answer the Horn wherever it sounds, and among them she carries the weapon that made her name. The bow is her calling and her craft, and she bears it as a soldier bears a trusted friend, with the ease of a hand that has known the string longer than most nations have known their borders.

Her company is a rare one. Artur Hawkwing leads the heroes bound to the Horn, and beside Birgitte ride figures such as Gaidal Cain and Rogosh Eagle-eye. Among warriors of that stature she holds her place without strain.

She first sets foot in Falme, a town at the edge of the Aryth Ocean: wagon yards, horse lots, and narrow streets running down to the harbor. Hills overlook the town, crowned with a copse of bare-branched trees, and the salt water stretches away beyond the docks. It is an ordinary town of traders and townsfolk, and she walks it bow in hand, as much at ease there as among the heroes of legend.
