Asha'man
The Asha'man are an order of men who can channel the One Power, black-coated soldiers trained as weapons for the Last Battle and ranked as Soldier, Dedicated, and full Asha'man.
The Asha'man enter The Wheel of Time in Lord of Chaos. They are an order of men who can channel the One Power, gathered and trained not to be hidden away but to fight, weapons meant for the prophesied Last Battle. Their name is Old Tongue for guardian. Recruits begin as Soldiers, rise to Dedicated with a silver sword pin on the collar of the plain black coat every member wears, and take the title Asha'man in full with the addition of a second pin, a sinuous dragon in red and gold enamel. The order stands in the service of the Dragon Reborn, and its existence cuts against everything three thousand years of teaching about men and the tainted half of the Power has led the world to expect. Its discipline is shaped on farms and drill yards rather than in towers, and its training is harder and faster than anything the White Tower permits.
