Amys

Amys made her home in the Aiel Waste, at Cold Rocks Hold, where she lived with her husband Rhuarc. Before she took up the shawl of a Wise One she had been a Maiden of the Spear, and some of that discipline stayed with her; a calculated control that ran beneath everything she did. Her white hair sat oddly above a face that remained young, and the contrast could unsettle those meeting her for the first time.

Among the Wise Ones, Amys held a rare distinction. She was one of only four who could both dreamwalk and channel, and Tel'aran'rhiod, the World of Dreams, was ground she knew as thoroughly as the valleys of her own sept. She understood its rules and its dangers, the ways it could deceive and the ways it could kill, and she treated that knowledge as something too serious to be handled carelessly. Alongside Bair, Melaine, and Seana, she carried the weight of guiding her people in matters that most could never see.

As a teacher, Amys was stern and unsparing. She employed harsh methods when they served, enforcing proper behavior and understanding with equal rigor, because in the World of Dreams a careless student risked far worse than embarrassment. Her allegiance to Aiel ways ran deep and admitted little compromise. The severity was never cruelty for its own sake, though. When concern was warranted she showed it, and when consideration was earned she gave it.
