Amayar
A fair, rural people living under the nominal rule of the Sea Folk, governing themselves in practice, and the unacknowledged craftsmen behind highly valued Sea Folk porcelain.
The Amayar are a people who live under the nominal rule of the Atha'an Miere, and it is not generally known in the wider world that they are the craftsmen behind the highly valued Sea Folk porcelain. They came together as a people during the Breaking of the World and sought help from the Sea Folk, who gave them the gift of passage: any Amayar who needs passage aboard a ship is given it free, though none has asked in living memory, as they dislike traveling far from shore. Atha'an Miere governors rule them on paper, but the Sea Folk seldom leave their ships and the Amayar largely govern themselves. They are shorter and much fairer than the Atha'an Miere, with lighter hair and blue or hazel eyes, and their culture is rural, given to sheep, goats, small cattle, oxen and horses. Marriage between the two peoples is nearly unknown, each finding the other's ways strange, yet they get on well.
