Altara

Altara is a country of the south, running down to the Sea of Storms between Amadicia, across the River Eldar to the west, and Illian to the east, under a banner of two golden leopards on a field checked red and blue. The throne in Ebou Dar commands less than the word suggests. Altarans give their loyalty to a town, a district, or a local lord long before any monarch, and many hardly think of themselves as subjects of a nation at all, so the crown's writ runs thin beyond the capital. The land itself is old. Ebou Dar stands where Barashta of the Ten Nations stood before the Trolloc Wars, and the bones of that ancient city sleep under the crowded quarter called the Rahad.
