Adeleas Namelle was an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah who, decades before the main story begins, had retired with her sister Vandene to write a history of the world, the two women so alike that even those who knew them struggled to tell them apart.
Adeleas Namelle is one of the sisters of the Brown Ajah, the society among the Aes Sedai that forsakes involvement with the mundane world and dedicates itself to seeking knowledge. In appearance she is almost a mirror image of Vandene, sharing her sister's face as well as her scholarly work.
