Branish

Most of the people living in Branish sit at the bottom of the ability scale that orders society in unOrdinary. The town is packed with low-tiers and lower mid-tiers, and it has governed itself for years without help from the Authorities, relying on its own offices and businesses to keep things running. That independence leaves it exposed. A criminal strong enough to overpower the residents can take the whole town for himself, and one does, installing a gang drawn from the strongest people in Branish to enforce his rules and collect a protection payment every week. Hostages keep families from resisting, and residents learn to draw their curtains and stay behind them.
