Jugyeong Lim is a Saebom High student in True Beauty who taught herself makeup from online videos after years of being bullied for her face, and who guards the distance between the girl at school and the one at home.
True Beauty follows Jugyeong Lim, a high school student who treats her own face as a project to be managed. Bullied through middle school for her looks, she teaches herself makeup from online videos and arrives at Saebom High as the pretty girl her new classmates take her for. The routine runs on double eyelid glue, brown-toned lenses, an eyelash curler and mascara, a brow pencil, BB cushion foundation, peach blush and a glossy coral lip tint, kept natural enough to pass as her own face. At school she edits herself to fit, down to lying about the music she likes and eating small portions at lunch. At home she drops all of it, ties her hair back, wears sweatpants, reads comics and eats fried chicken. She is warm, generous and easily led.
