The most frightening person in the Henituse household of Trash of the Count's Family serves the tea. Ron Molan is an aging servant who attends Cale Henituse personally: brown eyed, kindly faced, more than half his hair gone white, the very picture of a harmless old retainer. Cale, armed with a reader's knowledge of the book he woke up inside, knows better. Ron's mild manners rest on top of a former assassin's instincts, and Cale treats the old man's benign smile as a storm warning, never more alarming than when it arrives beside a fresh glass of citron tea. Ron's son Beacrox works in the same household as its chef. At the story's start Ron regards the young master as a puppy to be managed, and the sudden change in the puppy's behavior interests him more than he lets on.
