Mary
One of the world's last necromancers: a black robed young woman with purple eyes, black lined skin, and a flat voice.
Necromancy sits at the far, feared edge of magic, and Mary is one of the last people alive who practices it. She travels in a heavy black robe that hides her from hood to floor, and speaks in a flat, even voice often compared to a navigation device. Under the hood, fine black lines web her skin, the lasting mark of the dead mana that nearly killed her; she survived poisoning in the Desert of Death because the Dark Elves of the City of Death saved her and offered necromancy as the price of living. Cale's group first meets her among those Dark Elves. For all the dread her craft inspires, Mary herself is quiet, courteous, and unexpectedly kind, a young woman curious about a world she has barely seen.
