Church of the Sun God

It has stood as the official religion of the Mogoru Empire and the Caro Kingdom for hundreds of years, and the church itself is older than the Empire, since the Sun God's worship long predates the imperial throne. Its seat is the Vatican, in Mogoru, and its teachings anchor daily life for an enormous body of believers: goodness held up as a bright light, and a standing charge to stand against the darkness. Among its treasures is the divine item called the Condemnation of the Sun. The church's blessing legitimizes crowns, its festivals mark the year, and its priests carry authority that borders on the political. In a story thick with politics, an institution this large casts a very long shadow.
