Set progress to unlock

An aerospace engineer of the early Crisis Era, gentle and exacting, drawn to the projects everyone else calls impossible.

Cheng Xin sits on the task force designing propulsion for the coming generation of Long March rockets, and the same group is charged with the prototype engines for a long-delayed space plane. She has little enthusiasm for her chosen profession. She likens chemical rockets to the forests of smokestacks that poets of the Industrial Age praised as if they stood for civilization itself, and she doubts that a humanity relying on them can ever become a true spacefaring race. To keep her options open, she has taken classes in nuclear propulsion.
