Vandercaust is the oldest tech on a Belter mech crew at Medina Station, a shaggy, gray-haired man with a split circle inked at his wrist, who works the hull beside Salis and Roberts.
Off shift, Vandercaust drinks beer with his crew at an open-air cafe under the drum's false sun, grumbling that the showers and fields need the full spin they are designed for. He waves off any talk of handing the station's reactor core to the colonies, and deep in his cups he turns philosophical, arguing that a war never has a clean beginning.
